As you can see from the video, this light illuminates a 3 gallon cubic tank very well. The plants are healthy and the light gives off little heat. My setup is on the edge of a frameless tank so all I can say is that the mounting scheme works well. To be honest it was the cheapest light source available and I was familiar with how the ring design worked from my camera's macro flash. For the price you can't expect more but it can dim and knows the switch is very close to the plug.
