These are small but in a handy way. The brightness is all right. I bought these for both daily supplemental light use and as backlighting for power outages. As far as daily use, they simply aren't that bright. I forget to turn them on - and I don't miss the "extra" light. This is why I'm not impressed with the brightness. I expected more. On the other hand, they are perfect for carrying in hand and setting down during power outages (a common occurrence here). Easy to hold, fits nicely in a pocket and sits stably on a table or counter. Since I bought these for daily use, I thought I'd be regularly charging them. Now my challenge will be to remember to charge them since they aren't very useful for my purposes.The magnets are NOT strong. They are preset and work, but don't support the weight of the light. They can hang from the magnet - precariously, and if the light is brushed, it WILL fall. The lights have metal hooks which could be helpful IF you have a place to place the hook.One nice feature is the "hidden" flashing red light. I think this would be a great addition to a car roadside kit. but, again, you'd need to regularly check the charge.
