The backrest is high enough to alleviate some of the discomfort of uncomfortable and hard headrests. Who designed these modern car seats?! Who are they for? Automakers now have to plan an alien takeover any day now because the human spine is NOT shaped that way. However, these pillows aren't as thick as some, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The very thick ones flex my neck a bit and I still have to deal with a hard headrest when I recline. These pillows give me almost enough neck support to keep the back of my head from developing a sore point. I definitely think they are a good product even if they are not as "fluffy" or "thick" as in the pictures.
