Review on Moog K160077 Coil Spring Insulator by Brian Mendoza

IT WAS DIFFICULT TO INSTALL

I just installed new rear struts and new coil springs with those expensive isolators on the lower strut seat. Both isolators fell right into the bottom saddle of the strut, but as I slowly released the tension on the compressed spring, the isolator buckled and wanted to crawl out from under the spring. I kept trying to slide the surge isolator back under the spring using a small flat head screwdriver as a pusher. Strangely, the bottom of the spring didn't lay flat against the insulator so it buckled. Here is my argument. Of course the Raybestos springs had to have a perfectly flat bottom coil, but okay. How many feathers is ideal? If the insulator just had a little lip to attach it around the perimeter of the post saddle it would be fine, but I think Moog was busy in the day they wanted to "exceed OEM quality". For that price, they should have a lip or some other way of holding them in place.
