Astra stainless steel blades DE: Perfect Shave

I have been shaving for over 50 years. I learned to shave with my father's Gillette DE razor and blades. When disposable razors became popular, I switched to them because I was lazy. Disposable razors were quick and easy, but for me they never shaved as close as the DE razor. A few years ago I returned to the DE razor because I wanted a closer shave than I would with a disposable razor. For a while I stuck with brands I knew from my youth (Gillette, Wilkinson, Personna) but wasn't really happy with them. A few months ago I bought a sample of 30 DE razor blades including two Astra stainless steel blades. For me, the Astra blades were the best combination of comfort and closeness. Only the Feather blade compares well to the nearby Astra, but the Feather was sharper against my skin and I cut myself a few times with the Feather blade. If you can believe it, I felt the blade of the quill was too sharp for my skin. The Astra stainless steel blade glides smoothly over my face and provides a very close shave without having to press down hard. I get 3-4 close shaves with one blade with no noticeable reduction in cleanliness or comfort. I could probably get 5-6 shaves per blade, but for less than 10 cents per blade I can afford to change blades after 3-4 shaves lol. FYI, an Astra Platinum coated blade will give you an extra shave or two since it's made of carbon steel, which is harder than stainless steel, but it'll also be a bit tougher on your skin. For the money, the Astra DE stainless steel blade is a blade for life. It will take time to get past 100 blades but I will definitely be buying again. For those of you considering switching from a disposable razor to a DE, remember that face/beard prep is an important part of a clean and comfortable shave. Do your homework and give the Astra Blade a try. You will not be disappointed.
