This is a solid door latch. I'm very glad I bought this one and not the cheaper mid-power bar. See my attached two photos. I used this on a wooden fence, not vinyl. The latch came with vinyl self-tapping screws. I had to go to a hardware store and buy eight 1" round head stainless steel sheet metal screws. The screws were thick. I think it's a #10 or #12 screw. However, you can use this heavy duty wood fence latch if you purchase the correct mounting screws. The shutter is also designed for installation on the left or right side. It is enough to unscrew one screw and replace the spring. That's intuitive. There are no snap instructions. It's easier if you have a basic understanding of building principles when installing.
