Review on πŸ”Š Gikfun Upgraded Transparent Electronic Amplifier by Joe Patterson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Cool little thing for testing audio gear designed for headphone driving.

Not a bad project for a person used to soldering and knows how to read stripes on a resistor. I usually used a color code to check them but there were only 3 different values so I used a component checker to make sure I was reading it correctly. I hate those blue resistors when it comes to reading them because my 70 year old eyes seem to be failing me a little now. The assembly of the kit went without incident. Even surface mount parts were easy to handle with my mini soldering iron. The sound quality was surprisingly good, I was expecting something on par with transistor radios given the size, but they are much better. Finished product appearance was good, I messed it up and put red LEDs in slot number 1 on both so they behave like a power indicator, not an overload indicator. That's not a problem for me, although I'll leave them as is as they're meant for the store anyway. Overall I am very happy with your set.

Pros
  • This clear stereo electronic speaker kit has to be the most interesting DIY kit you have ever seen. This is a really beautiful speaker box with glowing lights and transparent body.
Cons
  • Price piggy bank
