We have taken several vacations on Great American Trips, 3 children, 2 adults in a van. We realized that we needed a different way of carrying things and still have space for ourselves. This is especially true when hiking. This is our first car transporter. The price is right and the reviews are good. Arrived on time, boxed. All of this is in the packaging as seen in the first photo. The third photo shows everything laid out in the driveway. Easy-to-read instructions, four hook straps, a non-slip mat (an industrial-grade rubber-like pad that's a reinforced version of a shelf liner - works well), and the strap itself. The backpack opens at the back with drawstrings that pull up either side. The zip doesn't go through the front which helps keep things dry. As shown in the 4th photo, the zipper is covered with a flap that is fastened with Velcro. Lightning is a black stripe down the middle. The bag is attached either by tying 4 pairs of straps under the side rails of the luggage rack or by hooking the frame under the door seal with hook straps and then pulling the pairs of straps through the loop attached to the hook. . Our luggage rack had no side rails. Instead I got caught on the trunk frame as shown in the 2nd photo. Each corner of the bag has 2 straps. It's very safe. I haven't tested it on a longer vacation yet. Withstands a lot! I put five sleeping bags in for photos and it's almost double the space. I couldn't assess the weather protection aspect because it hasn't survived the bad weather yet. My impression is that this will be very well received. (After a few years of service in 7th Army Group I have a pretty good sense of what stays dry and what doesn't.) The construction looks solid and should wear well with proper care. Overall I am satisfied with all aspects of this carrier. I was even able to fold everything back up and put it back in the case on the first try. If you've ever tried putting an air mattress back in your bag, that's about it.
