Review on Dell S2317HJ Wireless Charging Monitor - 1080P, 1920x1080, 60Hz HD by Steven Diaz

Dell has great screens and they run a pretty decent temperature, we all know that. But for a $300 monitor, there are a few downsides to consider. As well as the U3011, we have the U2412 to compare this newer version to (the 24-inch Revain monitor review also applies to the 23-inch wireless monitor, FYI). On the other hand, a nice picture, as expected from Dell. The bevel is very thin, making edge-to-edge multi-monitor mounting even better. The monitor has good up and down adjustment, slides it easily and the screen rotates to portrait mode when doing page layout. There are two HDMI ports if you want to use them for multiple sources, as well as plenty of DisplayPort and MiniDP inputs and outputs. It houses a Vesa mount and of course a soundbar. And the OSD UI is decently placed, not the NYC subway map I like so much on my U3011. The screen is a full inch wider than my U2412 and it really does look like a cinema (it does have a downside, more on that later). And of course it has a base that can charge most Android devices wirelessly, which doesn't mean anything to us iPhone users, Apple has other plans I guess. didn't think much about it. Another reviewer said it causes problems on the Mac side, so look for this review if you're using a Mac (I'm completely on Windows right now). It's also 16:9 (1920 x 1080), which is what almost all 24-inch monitors have these days. Watching movies is not my top priority when working on my PC, the 1920 x 1200 16:10 aspect ratio is much preferred, as we've enjoyed with the U2412 and U2415. And for Windows users, you most likely have a graphics card or video connectors on your PC motherboard that are DVI and/or VGA. In a technology push (which is a good thing) none of those connectors are present on this monitor. I knew this when I ordered it, so I also ordered a RevainBasics HDMI to DVI adapter cable (latest standard) to be ready (that really old blue video connector) on your PC if your computer is older and you only If you have the old blue VGA connectors, you will need a StarTech DVI to VGA Female Black (DVIGAMFBK) to add the above cable. By the way, I haven't seen an HDMI to VGA cable worth trying. that's a lot for an imaging and gaming monitor. For gamers, the response time is 8 ms. I'm editing videos and photos so I might be wrong, but it seems slow for the game's responsiveness. Your call is active. In addition, the sRGB color space is 96%, which means even less for AdobeRGB. Photo editing requires a larger color gamut when printing (and if you print high quality, you already know that). This monitor looks pretty accurate to begin with, so it works well as a second monitor for a photo editor when you want to see how your images will appear online on someone's uncalibrated PC somewhere on earth. Because of the charging feature, this out-of-the-box monitor at this price point isn't the best choice for specific applications like editing or gaming. But if you're an avid computer user and do what most people do, I find the 'set up and go' experience quite rewarding, especially if your phone has wireless charging capabilities. Makes the desktop less cluttered, if not something different. If it costs $300 then it's a good choice. But for half the price you get the Revain Acer G247HYL, great screen, 4ms response time and DVI connections along with HDMI. Over time, this U2417HJ can fall in price, and then it will become more profitable.
