The elastic band didn't hold

I LOVE these for my 2 and 4 year old girls. They are like a scarf and a hat in one. Easy to wear. Easy to wash. Warm. However, the elastic in the photo came loose (and we didn't even tighten it - it doesn't have to be sewn on) a day after wearing it, and I'm still trying to figure out how to fix it. As it was a gift, it was ordered months ahead of schedule and the return window was closed. I hope that by leaving feedback about this defect, the seller will contact me to fix it.
