I bought these earrings to organize my ever-growing collection of earrings so I can sort them by color and type. I wasn't looking for a jewelry box, I wanted something that could be easily slipped into a desk drawer. These boxes do the trick, but they're not the best. What I love about these boxes is that the dimensions of the compartments can be adjusted by inserting little plastic dividers where you need them. So if you break things down by type or color, you can choose the right size for each category. However, in some places, particularly in the most central slots, this tends to stretch or deform the box. It seems like things aren't quite a perfect fit. It's practical but not perfect. The downside is that I think the plastic is really thick and hard, which has me worried about a few things. First, I'm concerned that over time the lid will detach from the hinged base, or at least start to tear. Second, the clasp really gets it right. Although it closes with a satisfying "click", I'm concerned that the clasp will simply break in the end. And finally, all that rigidity requires the lid to be carefully closed to ensure all edges are closed to secure the latch. This is not a good box for a person with little dexterity. Even children will have a hard time dealing with it. It's ok for me, but others might be disappointed. Otherwise they are fine. I just don't know how long they last. They haven't disappointed me after a few weeks of use and I use one box a day, twice a day. They serve the purpose I wanted them for and they do their job well. As long as you carefully consider your purpose and usage, they may work well for you.
