Nice replacement dashboard

Restoration of a vintage 1983 Honda VF750F Interceptor. This bike was only produced in limited numbers for two years, but changed the face of sports bike production forever. In short, it's an important part of motorcycle history. However, the dashboards were probably the original T5 12v 3w wedge base bulbs which originally produced 9 lumens. At 37 they were pretty boring. This, combined with my aging eyes, made driving at night a daunting task. Since parts were hard to come by, I couldn't risk damaging the dash with hot LEDs. I didn't need anything flashy either. I chose these lamps because of their relatively low light output (100 lumens). They were good, hugging the base of the T5 snugly and installed without the included swivel connectors. My panel stands out at night and is easy to read, but not so bright as to be blinding on dark back roads. As other reviewers have pointed out, they are polarity sensitive, giving you 50/50 tries to set them up correctly. My odds seemed significantly worse lol, but just unplugging and rotating 180 degrees to change the connection lit up one of the ones I originally installed incorrectly. Now let's take a ride and see how they hold up.

Pros
  • Spare parts
Cons
  • Some problems
