Pros and Cons - Safety

Sorry for the long review but I think it's worth knowing the pros and cons before you buy. Our friend/husband who was building our deck stumbled across them while looking for gate options and we were sold instantly! I liked the idea of saving space without swing gates. We bought 4 (and returned to get 1 more). I read a review about them being unsafe near pools as children can open the bottom. This was clearly a problem for us (see pool photos). Our builder had to change one side a bit and buy a stopper (not sure which word is correct) that fits right into the deck so you can't move the gate unless you move it manually. The other side assembles according to the instructions and seems too heavy for a small child so I'm not worried about that. If a child has an arm between the slats and someone accidentally tries to close it, they could break their arm. Your locking system is terrible, I was trying to get a good shot. It is difficult to lock and unlock as there is no handle to hold on to and I would happily buy a new one that is more functional and capable. The collar is a complete black triangle, the back doesn't look like it (see 2nd and 3rd photos). One last thing to consider is the direction of your boards versus the direction the gate is moving. It's a bit harder to slide if you're not going in the same direction as the boards and bump into them, if that makes sense. Overall I love its functionality, it's a great alternative to barn doors but I'm a bit disappointed with how much it needs to be modified to work properly and some of the corners they cut at such a high price point.
