Review on Boating Sportsstuff Grandstand: 1-2 Person Towable Tube for Enhanced Performance by Deandre Vogt

Oh, that's great!: Watersports

To summarize the following review in two sentences: The maximum driving position means incredible fun. You will regret this purchase only heavily. Bought two towable carts for summer vacation at the lake 2013: SPORTSSTUFF 53-1860 TRANDSTAND 2 Towable and SPORTSSTUFF 53-1275 Towable Mixmaster 2 Towable Action Tube. We ended up using the grandstand three times more than the Mixmaster. Towed trailers arrived on the weekend of July 4th (main delivery). Lazing by a lake means a lot of traffic creating rough water and dangerous conditions. First we took off the Mixmaster and the ride was brutal. On top of that, our spotter didn't see us fall at least twice. We lasted about thirty minutes before announcing it and deciding to try it in the stands. The stand exploded well - took about three or four minutes to fill with a vacuum. We later noticed that one of the balloons had rotated, so we had to open it, deflate it, and move it around to keep inflating it. We also had to inflate a bit before going out on the second day, but that required a minimal amount of air. We blew it all away in about seven minutes by using a vacuum to remove every last bit of air. It fits perfectly in the storage box. Regardless of position, the Stand handled rough waters with ease. It also provided good visibility for our spotter. We didn't use anything to prevent the two ropes from sinking into the water. So if we sat like we were riding a horse, we would fill up with water every thirty seconds. Sitting backwards and lying down fixed it. There are many holds and they were positioned just right for every position we wanted to take. The rope grips could have been a little softer, but no one got blisters despite about an hour of intense riding. We still haven't figured out how to deal with it. No matter how much we (two petite women) leaned forward, he didn't move. In our attempts to do this, we often leaned too far to the side (and fell) or too far backwards (causing the towed object to raise its head and throw us off if we didn't lean forward fast enough could). The driver often failed to pull us out of the wake. The boat's top speed was 20 miles per hour. With some towed vehicles, a fall at this speed hurts. I was never scared of falling because I never got hurt no matter what position I felt out of my element. We had some problems with the ropes. Sometimes the rider lost balance and fell onto another rider who landed on the rope handles. A little uncomfortable, but nothing special. Surprisingly, we didn't have any serious clashes. Another thing about the fall was that it was one of the easiest objects to pull, even getting back up without help. Again, the handles are perfectly placed - I'm 5ft tall and had no problem reaching them to pull myself up. We had it rolled over twice. Each time we had to climb up (using the rope attachment as a step), then grab the edge and turn it over. It was the hardest experience we had with him. Everyone loved driving it. Our heaviest rider was around 160 and the lightest around 120. Everyone had a lot of riding experience, but it was still hard to take. We had loads of people pointing and watching us - it was (IMHO) the coolest towable thing on the lake. We spent about three hours getting everyone out on Saturday and Sunday and only got off out of sheer tiredness. We also lay on it for about 30 minutes (it's really comfortable and the balls are positioned just right for a lying position :)). I was a bit hesitant to buy it because it's the most expensive towed one I have. bought about two hundred dollars. However, I have never regretted it. Except for the fact that all I can think about is going back to the lake. Definitely consider towing - it was worth every penny.
