My NAS has 8GB standard, and there is no official upgrade for the RAM, though it needs it-- for all the stuff the NAS can do, Synology sure is under-RAMming. Anyway, I read online somewhere that it was straightforward, as the motherboard inside the NAS can support up to 16GB, and I was able to find this bit of RAM. It installed in a couple of minutes, and that was that.Even Synology (whose support people deserve an award) saw that I had added RAM, violating their ToS, and mentioned it, and then proceeded to support me.One of the main benefits: my NAS shuts the f up now. I don't have to listen to absolutely constant disk thrashing. But, also, I can run Docker containers and VMs all at once, without sacrificing other functionality.
