Some of the other reviews had me worried that this speed angle would differ from those sold in stores and possibly have manufacturing defects, but I took a chance on the Swanson speed angles at Lowe's where I work. Luckily other critical reviews were wrong. It was the quality I expected. I will continue to use my thinner measuring tools for precise measurements in woodworking, but these squares shouldn't just be used for rough carpentry work. The Speed Square has an even seam that allows it to sit upright even on sharp-edged project boards; lies flat and does not wobble. I immediately used it on a small woodworking project to draw angled lines for jigsaw cuts and as a quick guide edge for a single square cross section with my cordless circular saw. The little combination square was the perfect size for finding and marking the screw holes to be 1-5/8" from one end and 3/4" from top to bottom. It was easier to hold when marking than my big combo square. The two-piece package is great value. The price for both squares was lower than the regular price for just the speed square at local retail stores. The booklet (also in the shop packaging) is a good addition to raise awareness of the various uses and markings on the speed angle and provides some useful information for the joinery. I'm very glad I took the risk of using this service package. I am sure they will be used frequently in my workshop at home and I will take them with me in my tool bag for use outside of the home.
