Review on Enhanced Klipsch Reference S4 In-Ear Headphones (No Longer Manufactured) by Deon Sweeney

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good sound but poor choice for training

When I sit still and use headphones, I use full size headphones. If I take my headphones out, it's because I'm either moving or traveling. 9 times out of 10 it's because I'm going to run or mountain bike and then these headphones fail. Many other reviews relate to the sound quality, so I won't talk much about that. They were too heavy for bass for my liking, but some people actually prefer it, so it's a matter of preference. However, the biggest downside to these headphones is the cable. It is very hard and has a strong memory effect. They always want to stay confused as to what I could handle. But the real issue is that I couldn't fit the cable over my ear due to the cable's stiffness. They were so tough they just wouldn't wrap tightly and fell out. If I wore them with a lanyard, it would only take me 60 seconds of a run or a couple of decent hits on the bike and they had to be reinserted. With the right earpiece, the friction will hold them in for a while, but once you start sweating, they just come right out. Bottom line: Good buds if you like lots of bass and sit still. Definitely good sound for the price. But not suitable for use during training.

Pros
  • Many fit
Cons
  • Without insurance

Great IEMs with one small caveat
