I hope this will never be used. Its purpose is to suppress the energy of a lightning strike using a discharge device in an outdoor TV antenna. You can replace the gas hose and it would be wise to do so if you think the antenna has been damaged. So I bought some spare bulbs. They are well made and provide a connection that needs to be grounded. This is where the megaampere current flows for a short time, that is, if you can make a straight cable out of it into a ground pole. Depending on how directly your antenna is hit, this may not prevent the damage from spreading to the connected electronics, but it should definitely reduce it. Much stronger than many alternatives and this is an area where durability is a key advantage.
