Review on Universal Projector Ceiling Mount, White - QualGear QG-PM-002-WHT by Jeff Jemison

Great mount, better than the first one I tried and returned

This was my second attempt at a mount for my new ViewSonic PRO8530HDL projector. But I have a strange setup with the shape and composition of my area. I have cathedral ceilings in my great room so I knew I wouldn't be propping this off the ceiling. But I have a 3/4 floating wall between the kitchen and a large room with closets on the other side. I decided to use one of these brackets, but "upside down" from its normal hanging position, and use it to mount something ABOVE when it was attached to the top of the kitchen cabinets and held it so that it was behind the walls . The first one I had wouldn't put a little more distance between two Oles and one of the mounts was just the wrong size. I sent it back hoping it would be better. I liked the location of this one compared to the other. Everything was the same, only better. Especially the claw you attach the projector to. Part options have simplified the size and assembly of my projector. My downside is that it's designed to hang from the ceiling, just like a ceiling fan mount is designed so you can hang a ceiling fan on it until you hook things up. It's the same - the claw mount has cutouts so you can literally hang it on a pole, giving you time to put in the screws that hold it in place. What I did was install the base from below and the arm sticking up vertically with the projector on top is the opposite so it was more difficult to install. But everything went well. Despite this, it was very durable and resilient when used in a direction for which it was not designed. I was able to line things up properly and had no issues with the movement. Unfortunately, this position turned out to be 12 to 18 inches farther from the wall-mounted screen, and I can't zoom the image out enough to fit the screen without going over the edges. Well, I have a relative who owns a metal factory that makes me a specially designed panel that I just attach to the wall with a trampoline-like platform that sticks out from behind the wall so I can sit on it. Although I can't use this mount due to the layout of things, it worked flawlessly. I have no complaints.
