Enkay Polishing Compounds - how to soften them and smooth graphics from coarse to fine

As previously mentioned, this product is hard and dry. I thought the other reviewers probably had "old", dry stock. I was hoping to get a "fresh" bar with the consistency of Dove soap and be able to apply it easily to a 5 inch diameter wool felt ("Velcro") polishing pad. But it wasn't like that. The buffing pad on the rod has just formed blue dust with little or no blue material attached to the buffing pad itself. In addition to the abrasive powder, this bar likely contains a hydrocarbon-based hard wax filler. It can be melted in a metal can over a low gas flame, but if removed from the heat it soon solidifies again. Does not dissolve in alcohols or ketones (I've tried isopropyl alcohol and acetone). Place in a small container (a plastic measuring cup from a bottle of liquid detergent), add a small amount of mineral spirits (eg, hydrocarbon distillates), then crush the chunks and mix into a smooth paste with a metal spoon. worked at will on a wool buff to polish a faux marble countertop. Also, I hope these photos of the actual Enkay bar packaging will help those of us unfamiliar with the various grades (coarse to fine) of Enkay polishes to choose the right grade. The last picture shows how I use Enkay Blue Paste after mixing it with Mineral Spirits.
