Review on πŸ”§ Astro 13-Inch Heavy Duty Riveter - Model 1423 by Robert Toomey

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Few major design flaws but reliable mechanical performance

Firstly, I was NOT given the specified attachments. I have 3/32" which is not in the description, also 1/8" (3.2mm), 5/32" (4.0mm), 3/16" (4.8mm) and 1/ 4 inches. (6.4 mm) in the list. 6mm is not listed. Personally I don't mind having 6mm metric AND 6.4mm imperial seems overkill but I think some buyers will object and many buyers are looking for 3/32. "can't know what it is on this tool. The two major flaws I see are: 1) Inconsistent turret markings: some have both imperial and metric sizes clearly engraved on the top, others only have the metric size slightly engraved on the side Those engraved on the top are easy to spot if you quickly look around the instrument, but those engraved on the side are difficult to read quickly as they can point in any direction and the number "3.2" is intentionally etched so lightly that the top third of the digits aren't engraved at all.2) The wrench attachment used to replace the tip isn't seated properly, you have to move the drip tray a little to get it into the socket, it doesn't require any excessive force, you can easily do it with one hand, but that puts unnecessary strain on the threads of the mug itself and is just an odd, bad design choice ie a they could have moved it over a few millimeters to make it smooth. Overall I'm not impressed with the ergonomics of the tool, but the mechanical aspects haven't let me down yet and I've used it quite a bit.

Pros
  • High test scores for support and durability
Cons
