Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ Denso 221-0517 Radiator: Optimum Cooling Performance for Your Vehicle by Chris Webb

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Almost like the original

Looks no worse than the original with one exception. As mentioned elsewhere, the side brackets that secure the heatsink and hold the plastic cover in place have nuts, as opposed to the welded nuts that the original had. However, you can easily replace them with original brackets. The transmission lines were fine, as was the jacket fit that others have mentioned as an issue. It was well packaged and not damaged. A tip: after you've reassembled the system and it's pressurized, check it under a faucet. There is a small hole at the bottom, a drain hole, which allows coolant to drain out if the faucet is not pinched with pliers. It seems to require a decent amount of force to properly install the pressure seal. Unlike radiators from 20 years ago, they are no longer made of bronze at the top and bottom, but of plastic. The original Denso cooler broke in the upper plastic part with a hairline crack. I first smelled coolant and then noticed a leak as the system was pressurized. JB Weld may have worked to fix it, but it's probably not something that could withstand the pressure and heat of the cooling system for long. For โ‚ฌ100 it's not worth messing around with. Unrelated to the product was my error in the way it was supposed to be shipped. I thought I was getting expedited shipping when I actually went the free route. Little did I know you had to pay extra (duh) to get it by the guaranteed expedited shipping date. So my truck was idle for ten days and I thought it was only three. My fault.
