Review on πŸ’† Enhanced Portable Philips Norelco PQ208/40 Travel Electric Razor for Optimal Performance by Amanda Castillo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not a quick shave but close and a QUIET shave compared to Pana ES3831 and Braun M60

I have Panasonic ES3831 and Braun M60 travel shavers and love them. I recently bought a PQ208/40 to try it out and in my experience it shaves reasonably closely compared to other shavers (if I shave a Panasonic or Braun after shaving the PQ208/40 it hardly removes the extra mustache ). The PQ208/40 takes significantly longer to get a relatively close shave, partly because it has to hover over the skin for the dual heads to cover everything. about twice as long for an all-day beard, the correction can be shorter. However, the PQ208/40 is significantly quieter - it emits a low-frequency metallic hum rather than the loud hum of an electric motor. Therefore, the PQ208/40 may be much better suited for the office or on-the-go work where you can't spot yourself shaving quickly. While it doesn't offer running water cleaning by tapping the detachable head tank and cleaning or blowing through the shaving cavity, the PQ208/40 cleans as quickly and easily as the Panasonic and Braun. Physically, it's about the same size as the Panasonic, which is larger than the Braun. It has a moveable latch on the switch and a lid that snaps onto the heads (btw the clip could be a bit stronger to keep the lid from coming loose). The surface texture of most of the "grip" area is surprisingly very smooth, to the point that it gets a bit slippery if your hand is wet, for example, but that's not a big problem. much stronger than the foil in the other two razors. So overall a very good option for a travel shaver in my opinion. UPDATE @ 5 MONTHS (9/28/14): I still highly recommend it - the blades seem to have retained their sharpness; If I use it daily I change the batteries about every 2-3 weeks and it's very easy to clean. Another thing I've noticed when traveling in terms of battery life / "soft failure" - if I ride on one set of batteries for too long, the shaver still shaves closely, but it lasts longer.
