I made it through a few trips to other countries while using the lens as my standard lens on the 5d, and overall, I am quite pleased with the purchase that I made. The new Sigma Art line is extremely impressive. The lens has a design and build quality that are comparable to those of Zeiss lenses, and unlike older Sigma models, this one does not have any issues with back or front focus. When compared to the Canon 16-35 2.8 and the Canon 50 1.4 lenses, which I have previous experience with, this lens is able to focus more precisely in low light and produces a picture that is, in my opinion, sharper. The only disadvantage of this lens is its heavier weight in comparison to the Canon 50 1.4, which causes the photographer's hand to tire more quickly when shooting outdoors during the day. You won't get the same beautiful bokeh if you shoot with a zoom lens, but if you set your aperture to 1.4, everything will look like it's made of milk. I decided to go with this lens instead of the Canon 35 mm 1.4 since there are a sufficient number of test images available on the internet, the Sigma is sharper at an open aperture and it has prettier bokeh, and as an added bonus, it costs only two-thirds as much as the Canon lens does. The plastic mount for the filters was the one thing that disturbed me when I first started using the lens, but after some time I got used to it because I don't plan on dropping the lens from a great height (filters don't stick to plastic and can be quickly removed if necessary).
