So I have to walk my Kat6 7 feet down an insulated basement wall, ie between the drywall and the plastic vapor barrier that sits snugly against the back of the insulation. My tape was unthinkable. So I decided to use this gadget. I tried pushing it from above but because of the angle to the joist above the ceiling it broke through the vapor barrier and went behind the insulation so I thought crap! On a whim I moved it up where there is less stress on the flex segments which improves the angle of penetration. and pushed and pushed and stopped. it hit something. I went to the hole in the ceiling and there it was. I never thought something so thin could go up so straight! I went to the other end to put the cat6 on the tiled ceiling and it saved me time as I could go through 4 tiles at a time (on 4 segments the other 6 were waiting in the wall). The only snag (literally) was that the cable caught on the joist and the top of the wall, and when pulled, one of the flimsy split-ring mounts (like a key ring from a car dealership) completely deformed. So instead of a ring, I used a piece of wire wrapped in a loop. It worked. On the wall I used braided steel cable with a red plastic cone to pull cat6 and it went down the wall with no problems! Bar segment by segment while the woman watches from behind the corner TV table. The pole went up the corner until it touched the ceiling and then I shook it and it flexed nicely so she could catch it. Just like a cake! Aside from that thin split ring, it was perfect. The only improvement I would recommend is to include a male to male adapter. In the heat of the moment, it's difficult to keep track of internal and external threads. Generally very impressed. Too many details, a little I was so happy. In the past I have had to open multiple holes with some damage to the vapor barrier in insulated walls and the home, move furniture and more.
