Lower cable - see elsewhere

This cable broke in the bonnet latch (which was new) after a single use. This cable uses a plastic stop to hold the case in place to allow the metal inside to move. The cable I replaced used a metal element, which makes more sense.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Only available in black

Low quality part, best for hood release cable

This cable worked fine before installation, but after installation it snags and becomes more difficult to work with compared to the original. Don't recommend this Dorman hood release cable, just spend the extra money on the genuine dealer part.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • small things

Poor quality for cable

Overall a good product, after a few weeks of installation it stopped working, I pull to open the bonnet and the cable is sticking out so I had to push in the bonnet handle. Clean the cord, close the hood, kind of a good buy just doesn't last long, sad.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Some flaws

Custom-fit hood release cable replacement

I broke the hood release handle on my 1999 Honda Civic Si. You must replace the entire cable assembly. This cable is a perfect replacement. Identical down to the last detail. Except for one thing - the silhouette of the car moved one way on my Honda grip and the other - on the Dorman part. Otherwise it is identical to the factory part in all respects.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • There are even more interesting options.

Good reliable product - just right for my application.

I've always been impressed with Dorman products, but the mechanical simplicity of this product can hardly go wrong. Direct fitment and replacement of a broken wire in a 1996 Honda Civic. Installation was a moderate problem as it had to be routed through the fender opening and past the condenser, although the replacement along with the hood latch only took about 1.5 hours.

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • Modern

Cheap Bonnet Latch Cable Replacement

Needed to replace the bonnet latch rod after it has broken off under the dash. Instead of using a do-it-yourself approach to fix this, and since I would be under the driver's side fender, I purchased and installed the entire cable. It was very easy to install - it took longer to undo the little plastic latches and route the cable under the fender liner than actually connecting to the latch or screws under the dash. Let's see how long this lasts.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Compatibility

does the job. on cables

I had to buy this item twice which is partly my fault. The hood release cable broke the day I bought my '96 Civic from a family friend in January. I bought this item as a replacement almost immediately afterwards, but I've postponed it until a warmer day to get the job done. Since mine broke I couldn't just pull the cable by hand to open the hood - I had to remove the front grille and then unscrew the hood latch to even open the hood (and I don't have a garage). I did an exchange and in the end

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Security
