Parents are doing themselves a favor and buying a pair for their kids. My MIL got us a pair when my daughter was a baby and we lived in Seattle and they were so shiny. We wear them directly over our pajamas or other clothing items to keep them clean and protected from the wind when playing outside. We've worn them in all fishing conditions. We're not worried about ruining them. They will last long after your kids outgrow them and make great crafts. Act! (They are a bit "husky" in size. Which my skinny son doesn't like, FYI, 4 years old, 3.5ft tall, 40lbs.)
