Reduced shank weak
Shop drill end excellent. The reduced hex end is weak. It appears that the hardened drill bit was ground after the heat treatment, leaving the hex shank unhardened. It broke on the first day of use. Cut this part off and dispose of the piece like a regular 25 year old Kreg bit and get on with your work.
