I first bought a CO2 booster to solve the hair algae problem in our 20 gallon tank. Nothing else I've tried worked, and I've read that increasing the CO2 will help. I also figured it wouldn't hurt to add it to our 50 gallon aquarium to see if any new live plants would take off. After emptying a bottle between two tanks, the hair algae died, the living plants went haywire and all the fish stayed healthy. I'm on my second bottle now. (I only use 1mL in my 20 gallon tank which is half the dose. I use the full 5mL dose in a 50 gallon tank with the measuring cap.) Seeing positive results!
