Drove 2000 miles in the US and have had a very good experience with this cargo bag. It is not fully protected from rain. A very small amount of water got into the bag after heavy rain. If you want to FULLY protect your items from water/moisture, I recommend packing them in a waterproof bag e.g. B. a large zippered pocket. It is best to attach this bag to the roof rack of the car. Based on my personal experience, I do not recommend using this bag (or any other cargo bag) for road trips unless you have a roof rack. It's difficult to travel with this bag if you don't have a roof rack. If your car doesn't have a roof rack, I recommend buying two long ratchet straps so you can securely attach the bag to your car's roof. Secure the ends of the ratchet strap INSIDE the vehicle for easy adjustment on the go. It's also good for security reasons. The two long straps that come with the cargo bag are totally useless.
