This was the first press I found that could make 15 ounce mugs for less than $200, so I took it. My expectations were not too high and with good reason. The press is mechanically sound and well built, but the controls aren't very good. It generally doesn't hold the temperature well. I just set it to a very high temperature and turn it off for 30 seconds and then turn it back on. I do this several times until my cups are ready. The switch that starts the countdown timer wasn't even plugged in, and part of it was on the bottom of the box. Now I use my cell phone to measure the time. It was packed well enough. I design my own temperature and timing controls so I'll probably buy another one considering it's pretty cheap and mechanically reliable. You know the bad
