Review on ๐ŸŒ TP-Link TG-3468 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express Network Card: PCIE Adapter for PC with Win10 Support by Brian Chatum

Functional card for Pfsense firewall

I bought this card for my Pfsense firewall/router to replace a very cheap USB ethernet adapter I was using (although this adapter worked surprisingly well as my WAN interface ). This card is based on the RealTek 8168/8111 chipset and uses the "re" FreeBSD driver. The card was automatically recognized after installation and hasn't given me any quarks yet. This card is suitable for a home router with multiple concurrent users and an average internet connection of 30Mbps. I ran iperf from my desktop onto this NIC connected over a 1Gbps connection and found that the actual throughput was around 850-950 Mbps. Hardware interrupts from this interface consumed up to 80% of the Core 2 Duo processor in my router during testing. If you're lucky enough to have a gigabit internet connection, invest in an Intel Nic and a more modern processor. The included low-profile bracket was easy to install with just two screws. I'll update this review if anything changes, but for now this seems like a solid NIC for desktop use or LITE server use.
