I wanted something that would take a second larger monitor off my desk, look attractive enough and not be overly expensive. I also wanted to have space to put a large drawer of "stuff" under my feet. This monitor stand meets my needs. Once in place, it cannot be moved. The monitor weighs about 15 pounds and I don't want to put anything heavy on the tray. The diagram shows that it is configurable into all sorts of shapes, including near-vertical tabletop heights. I'm not sure if it's strong enough to move around a lot. As said, it is in place and will not move or change shape. The top tray was parallel to the table it was meant to stand on. The joints have dials that measure 4, 6, 8, etc. to tell you where to turn that dial and therefore the corresponding joint. Then the fun begins, getting the opposite hand to match what you just did. I imagine it's someone more mechanical or reading instructions (which I found limited), but after about 20 minutes - ta-dah! It does require some patience though, so not for those who get easily frustrated, and for the price it's pretty good value.
