They are smaller and softer than metal than expected.
They look pretty neat, but they're all different sizes. Most of them are so small that they can only be used with very thin material. And that's the main problem. The parts of the needle are so thick that they leave a very visible hole in anything you poke it through. The metal is also so soft that it bends easily when pulled through thicker materials like a woolen blanket.
