PERFECT! for my opinion
We'd been using 2 tea towels to "bib" my 93 year old MIL when she eats. They never stayed in place and had to be washed frequently. These stay in place with the Velcro tabs at the neck, they're plenty long enough to cover her lap (even if you decide to turn up the bottom and snap it in place for a crumb catcher) and the soft plastic top layer just wipes clean. Three in a package is very generous! Since they clean up so quickly, you really only need one. But she likes the different patterns and colors so that's a plus for her.
