if the coating doesn't last, these will be a disappointment. They could cause some serious scratching on the material below or could just entirely come apart. this isn't one solid magnet, there are 4 on this hook and they are strong, so I hope the whole thing holds together. the coating feels pretty premium, but might not be very thick. I can clearly see the magnet shapes below it in the back and I see a little fraying where the two pieces join in the front.I hope the reviewers that got bad threads on their hooks got replacements. I did have to screw these in farther than I felt I should, but the hooks did eventually tighten well on the base. I can feel a little flex in the hook when prying the magnet off, so I hope it all holds up.The price point feels high, but I don't have much to compare to. These are (much) stronger magnets than I've had previously and they won't rust like the hooks I have on my garage fridge. If they hold up to the elements then it might be worth the premium price. I'll try them in the garage and on the grill outside and update this review again later.
