I am generally satisfied with this product. I bought a 1.0" for the MFT and Shetland to separate them. Both are fat and probably short of IR. Here's what's good: It fits a whole bale of hay and grass (50-60 pounds). once. This slows the horses down and I fill up every 3 days (and another feeder).Although it broke right away I fixed it with parachute cord and it hasn't snapped since.Easy to fix.The rope (the one used to close of the hole) replaced ) with cheap carabiners so it can be filled in much faster. There is chaos but not as much as I thought we live in the Pacific Northwest so any hay that falls on the ground ends up dirty and wet.I'm happy and will repurchase Here's the bad part: First I filled the bag with a whole ball of 50+lbs and put it in the empty Rubbermaid feeder so it wouldn't touch the bottom. My MFT- Mare raised the whole bale with a net and threw it on the ground. I tried leaving the bag in a shelter on the ground (too much rain to leave it outside) but it soon got dirty and turned to crap. e and urine. I had to soak the mesh in vinegar water to get rid of the smell. Then I tried to mount it on the wall but it still got too dirty because they walked on it with dirty feet. (Did I mention that it rains a lot here?) I ended up attaching it to the walls of the shelter like the photo in the description. It seems to work. My MFT punched a basketball sized hole in the net in the first week. (It has held up well since the refurbishment.) Overall: not perfect but it works and I would recommend it and would buy it again. The price is correct! Also, my horses are a lot less naughty, which I attribute to their increased comfort as they always have food in their stomachs (because they produce stomach acid 24 hours a day, 7 days a week). This means I can work with them whenever I want without worrying that it's "feeding time". They lose their paunchy appearance and are now much happier and less stressed because I don't feed them 2 meals a day (no intermediate food). I agree. She's not that aggressive with her food. Other than replacing the crappy carabiners that come with the kit I haven't had any issues.) EDITED 4/16 I've since switched to Shira nets. I don't like it) but they last a lot longer I love hi nets but my IR horse needs a small hole size and this net isn't strong enough on small horses. Shires are strong and cheap, but harder to fill. I use these nets for the "barn nanny" to make filling easier for her. Otherwise the Shires get my vote.
