I use this to clean a five gallon tank. It took me years to get it working when I first used it, but now that I know how it works I'm very happy with it! You just have to pump it up and down for longer than you think, even when it's completely filled with water. But once you get started, it seems to work well. It looks like it sucks all the abominations out of the gravel. It's good that it's this long because I don't have to be afraid to put my hands in the tank. I've read stories about water coming out of gravel vacuums too quickly and making a mess so I was a bit nervous but from the few times I've used it it doesn't seem to be a problem. The water flow feels smooth and very controlled. In my experience no gravel guard is needed as the gravel never seems to be vacuumed up. I haven't tried any of the attachments yet, but I'll have them on hand if I ever need them. Definitely recommend!
