Years ago I had a pair of REI waterproof fleece lined pants/leggings that I wore next to the skin because they were so comfortable and incredibly versatile: from winter pants to at home to off-piste skiing in the Adirondacks and snowshoeing. Unfortunately this can no longer be found. These pants are probably as close as I'll get. The fleece lining inside is comfortable and the pants hold up well in cold (like 30's) rainy weather, but the waist really bothers me. It's very tight and the drawstring is inconveniently on the inside. I think that you can only tighten a small part of the waist in the front with this, so there is little point in doing this. I'll probably cut it off after a few washes to see what happens with the elastic at the waist. It should be noted that I'm glad I got the plus size, even though the sizing chart says I should be medium (5ft 6in, 155lbs, regular pant size 10 or 12). side of a leg. Unfortunately it is not removable.
