Review on General Tools 861 Woodworking Furniture by Chris Jens

Not what I expected.

I carved the dovetails by hand and bought them to relieve my wrists. I have in no way attempted to follow the instructions to make dovetail cuts with the drill bit included with the 3/4" stock. The cutting head is too short and would theoretically fit in half blinds. The 3/4-inch bearing bit oversteps the tool's pin spacing and cuts into the aluminum. I tried the 1/2" straight push-to-connect fittings. I had to remove the bearing on the bit that came with it and put them on my straight bit. After 3 bits I finally found one that matched the inner diameter of the bearing. I should have checked, before I started but the 1/2" bit cut into the side of the jig before the bearing could go through the cut. The instructions say you should use a 1/2" bit and it should be on the left side of the jig hole. The key washer that is supposed to even out the gap between wider boards sucks. It sits flush with the top of the shaft when clamped in the jig. I had to watch the alignment because it's not deep sits enough to evenly distribute the wood. I think using 1/2" and thinner stock seems to work. Anyway, that thing is in my junk drawer.
