I wanted to try this rear camera after reading that it had been upgraded to 1080p. After seeing some of the negative reviews I decided to test it out first before proceeding with the installation - just in case I decide to return it. First of all, you should know that the app they provide is not available through App Store. , but via a link that leads to a different location and you are expected to download the app from an unknown source. The installation process is also in very cryptic language that I can't read (I'm assuming it's Chinese or a derivative). To protect my main phone, I installed the app on my second phone. I just pressed the highlighted characters, assuming and hoping it was necessary to install the application. It worked. (FYI, the app's name is probably also in Chinese -- starting with "360" followed by a few foreign-language characters.) An additional app was also installed but wasn't needed, so I uninstalled it. After the application was installed, I connected the camera to a 12 volt battery. The app prompted me to set up a Wi-Fi connection and then the app displayed the camera view along with a series of English icons at the top used to change settings, take photos and videos, etc. With the included app I took some photos and videos. Regardless of the resolution setting, it was evident that the actual resolution was very low and consistently low. It looks like the camera takes low-resolution images and can upscale them to larger file sizes, but of course the anti-aliasing gets even more intense. It will not get better; it's just an enlarged image with the same poor resolution. I filmed the same scene with several other cameras I own so I have a good basis for comparison; A small area was then cropped to give a zoom effect for comparison as the photos in these reviews are not to scale. The true 1080p camera was actually very good as details were more visible. Advertised as an enhanced 1080p (1920 x 1080) camera, this mini Wi-Fi rear camera is comparable to a 720 x 480 camera though. Look at the photos provided (blurry photos are actually blurry). While it's a huge disappointment to find out that I've been the victim of misleading/false advertising, I have to admit that a low resolution can actually be enough to use the rear view when reversing. If you just want to see enough to avoid a collision, this camera should work. If you want more detail in an image, look for something better like a true 1080p or 4K camera. We remind you that if you don't want to download the application through non-normal channels or navigate through a non-English prompt sentence, this product is also not for you.
