When my original remote started going crazy, I didn't think it could be the remote itself. But I didn't think it was very good as he fell to the ground several times. However, I figured the whole remote would fail, not just a few buttons. I was concerned that my DVR was dying and I would have to spend on another one. And that didn't make me happy because I really like mine. So, just to cover all the bases, I decided to buy a new remote control. Boy was I glad I did. That was the problem. I'm pretty sure my old one must have snapped at the solder joint and that's why just a couple of buttons didn't always work. Maybe you can test yours to see if it does the same thing by tapping it lightly with your other hand while pressing keys that don't work. This can cause the solder point to bond long enough for the button to work. It's not a surefire test, but it's worth trying. I have to say I'm glad the new remote works. I feel like I got a new DVR instead of a new remote control. It works just like a new DVR. In fact, there was never anything wrong with the DVR, but I thought the worst. I'm glad because I really like my Magnavox DVR. I guess I'll have to find a new place for the remote so it doesn't fall so easily on the floor.
