Strong magnet, don't settle for an aluminum plug that unscrews

M12x1.25 plug fits my 2az-fe motor and many others, a popular size for Japanese manufacturers. Expensive but I think it's a good investment when you think about it. Oil filters typically filter down to about 20 microns. This magnet removes ferrous particles of all sizes, including particles smaller than 20 microns, reduces pump scratching (the oil pump sucks unfiltered oil out of the sump, if the particles are trapped in front of the pump this is an advantage even if they are large enough to be caught by the filter ) Indicates the condition of the engine by monitoring the spark plug during operation. I have also used cheap anodized aluminum magnetic plugs but if you are not very careful when tightening they will come loose then good luck removing the stuck part in the oil pan. But since it's stainless steel, GR8 works. I use the original snap washer, the metal washer that comes with this plug seems to be oversized and may or may not leak a little. The engine now has 367,000 km and runs well. If engine builders really care about durability, then this should be OEM equipment, right? But why hurt future sales 😜

Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
