Well, lets get out in front of this one. These are dishwasher pods. They aren’t going to blow your mind— they’re just supposed to work, right? And they do. Your dishes will be clean. Goes without saying they’re always going to be better than the powder. It’s not 1970, we use pods now.So, why the 3 stars? Well— I think for something like dishwasher pods, you’re allowed to nitpick a little bit, and compare against competing products.Let’s jump in.Water spots: Not a crazy amount, but water spots nonetheless. Wine glasses and pint glasses come out just a bit foggy sometimes.Wash intensity required: If I load my dishwasher after a multi-pot and pan dinner cook, or even just fill it to the brim with standard dirty dishes, I have to run a ‘Heavy’ cycle to ensure these pods will get everything clean. That’s fine, that’s what the heavy wash is for, but as I’ll touch on later— dishwasher pod technology has come far enough to where you shouldn’t have to have to settle for "fine.”Post wash smell: Now THIS is a nitpick. You know when you open the dishwasher shortly after it finishes a cycle, and you get hit with a hot whiff of ‘dishwasher steam’? Well, for whatever reason, with these pods, the smell of that steam becomes horrid. I don’t know why, I always assumed it came from extremely hot water interacting with food residue, but no— it’s these pods. It smells like you live on a farm down the street from a chemical plant, and since switching pods I haven’t experienced it once!Okay so, for a bit there, I settled. These got the job done just fine…. JUST fine.For reference, My ‘5 star pods’ are Cascade Platinum. They do the job, and then some. No water spots EVER, no weird hot smelly steam, and I can run a 30 minute (light) cycle with a heavily used and poorly rinsed lasagna pan, and it comes out with a mirror finish, every time.Don’t settle. Go get the Cascades.
