Over the past year we have received several complaints about our dogs barking, mainly when we are away from home. I tried a few things before we settled on a bark collar. I admit I was very hesitant, but I also wanted my dog to be able to enter the house and yard when we were away without annoying the whole neighborhood. After wearing the collar for a day I already noticed a huge improvement! The first few times she started barking I could tell when she felt the collar because she stopped immediately and then kept trying to look at her neck. I was afraid it would be painful and turn my happy, playful dog into a sad, scared dog, but that didn't happen. I particularly like this Petsafe product because of the rechargeable battery and the very easy to use menu. The battery has a pretty long lifespan (we've only had it for about two weeks, so hopefully it stays that way!). The menu simply uses flashing lights of different colors to indicate which setting is enabled. We've always used the progressive static correction setting. Another feature I really like about this collar is the patented Perfect Bark technology, which ensures that the collar only triggers when my dog actually barks. I would absolutely HATE if the collar was triggered by any other sound, which is not the case with this product. The only thing I don't like is the extra slack in the collar. Once the collar is securely fastened around my dog's neck, that leaves almost a foot of extra material (she's not a cross between a small dog, a German Shepherd, and a 57-pound pit bull). I have to wrap up the excess material and tuck it under the collar so she doesn't try to grab it.
