Louder than it should be but very stylish

Nice fan with some fatal flaws. I personally don't mind the horn, which a lot of people hate, but it could certainly be quieter. I can't believe there isn't a built in option to turn it off and I hope Hunter will take that into account with all the other comments. HEAVY FAN. You need a matching can, or one of those cans that screw between the joists by hand. DO NOT attempt to hang it without the correct box. The color and shape is nice and modern, and this model works great if you have 8-inch ceilings. It was surprisingly difficult to find an inexpensive matte black fan with a closely spaced bracket. The version with a wooden blade is also nice. Perhaps the biggest issue I've had with this otherwise really nice, solid fan is that it's nowhere near as quiet as the Hunter we replaced or whatever we have. I hear it in another room when both doors are closed. It's not very loud; I live with it. But it's annoying enough to wake up from another room because of the vibrating noise. If it didn't take forever to find a black modern fan with no base, I would definitely return it. If it's on a different floor than your bedroom/side of the house, or if it's in a room where you regularly turn on your sound (TV, music, etc.), go all out. If you have sensitive ears (maybe an autistic kid or something) or will sleep with them in your room, skip it.
