Review on πŸ“€ Sleek Sony BDP-S480 Blu-ray Disc Player: Immersive Digital Entertainment (2011 Model, Black) by Damion Pasquale

A little disappointed with the quality

Bought two of these as one was a gift. The person liked the device so much that I decided to buy it to replace the ailing Pioneer. I don't have details on how to connect to the internet with this device as I only use it to watch Blu-ray movies and sometimes standard DVDs. Setup was very easy and I got the player up and running in minutes. A quick wizard walks you through the moves and I was watching movies in minutes. I've owned many DVD and Blu-Ray players and some of them were high-end players, so my comparisons might be a little biased. I also have a high end Sony LED TV and thought it would go well with this set. This is if you are looking for comfort. If you are looking for outstanding quality then this is not the place. This device has great reviews online and it really helps, but if you have Panasonic or Pioneer players you will notice the difference. There is almost no need to change the video settings on this device and the picture you get is what you get. Although the picture is on Blu-ray, it looks a bit washed out compared to the other players mentioned. The price of this device couldn't be better, but in the end, as many say, you get what you pay for. Standard DVDs didn't look very good on this player, and the upscaling wasn't nearly as good as Panasonic's. If you're looking for a player for the bedroom or on a budget, this player is fine, but if you're picky about your video and want to be in control of your picture and settings, this isn't for you. For the price, a Panasonic player would be better. I'm surprised this player isn't stunning given Sony's video quality. I ended up returning it (Revain rules) and bought another brand.
