Inaccurate - thermometers and timers

This is a typical device for measuring the temperature of a wood stove. I figured since this is a Vermont Castings device it would be more durable and accurate. But he showed a very high performance. So I tested it in my oven. It turned out that the temperature is 100 degrees higher than the temperature of the oven. So 700 degrees on my wood stove (Vermont Castings Encore) means 600 degrees. I think it's ok. But of course that is not correct. Also, it's a lot smaller than what I was able to buy in the store. But I'm not returning it even though it was way more expensive than the store bought one. Too many problems. My own thermometer fell off the lid of my oven. Every time I added wood it fell off because the magnet would fail, probably from the heat. Aggravating. Let's see how this one fares.
