Review on Acer V277U: 2560X1440P FreeSync Monitor with Adaptive Sync and V7 Speakers by Marc Espinoza

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good monitor for the price but not perfect

A very good monitor for the price with a few weaknesses. Pros: - Good performance for the price. 27-inch 1440p IPS typically cost over $300. - Excellent viewing angles, better than VA and much better than TN. - The overall picture is quite good, but there are some drawbacks (more on that under "Cons"). - The OSD menu is easy to navigate and offers many settings to customize the picture to your liking. Many color settings and offers 1:1 scaling. - Stable stand, the screen doesn't shake much and the overall build quality is pretty good. Cons: Colors didn't look entirely natural out of the box and seemed more vibrant than usual. Another reviewer described it as "neon", which I think fits perfectly. The settings in the OSD helped to tone down the brightness, although I couldn't get it to work the way I wanted - Interpolation isn't that good. Sometimes I like to play classic games like Diablo II and they look a bit aliased in full screen. This isn't the case with other 27-inch monitors I've had, which kept text and graphics relatively sharp. ear above right. I could notice this when watching dark content, and it was even more noticeable when the room was dark. However, the rest of the screen was fine and the backlighting was generally better than most other IPS monitors I've had, if not perfect. Overall, this is a very reliable monitor for the price. If the mentioned shortcomings don't bother you, I definitely recommend it if you are looking for a cheap 27" 1440p IPS monitor.
