I bought these for the sole purpose of river walking, so spending hours walking through river beds in ankle - waste/chest deep water. Lots of rapids, currents and wet rocks. As a sandal out of the water these are great; I wore them for a couple days, all day, and had no parts of the sandal rub me wrong which is always a good sign. I should have looked more closely at the sole though as that is what disappointed me. The sole appears to be a molded plastic with some rubber but the design is not conducive to being good for wet rocks. The first wet rock I stepped on I slipped and spent the rest of the day slipping and falling. I grabbed a walking stick from downed wood and that was the only thing that kept me on my feet some of the time, the shoes were just too slippery in the water and I even fell a couple of times even with the stick. One good point of them in the water is that they shake out nice, so if you get some sand or little pebbles in through the holes that get stuck under your foot, just a few shakes in water and it will all come right out. That's alright, now I got a decent pair of sandals - I'll just never wear them in the water again.
